Offimo - Mindful pause app for screen time control

The Screen Time permission: what Offimo can and cannot see

Why Offimo asks for Apple's Screen Time permission, what it uses it for, and what stays out of reach.

When you first open Offimo, iOS asks you to allow Screen Time access. This article explains what that permission is for and what it does not give us.

Why Offimo needs it

On iPhone, the only official way for an app to step in before another app opens is Apple's Screen Time framework, the same system behind the built-in app limits. Offimo uses it to hold the apps you chose for a few seconds. No VPN, no configuration profile, nothing rerouting your traffic.

Without the permission, Offimo cannot pause anything. That is why it is asked for right at the start.

What Offimo uses it for

  • Showing the pause when you tap a protected app.
  • Holding the barrier during Commitment Mode.
  • Keeping your streak and Jeff's progress moving as you keep going.

What stays out of reach

Offimo does not read what you do inside the apps you pause. It does not see your messages, your feed, what you watch or what you type. It does not sell data, show ads, or send a usage report to anyone. There is no dashboard for someone else to watch you.

Your app choices and your progress are yours. If you want the longer version, the privacy article and the privacy policy have it.

Changing your mind

You can revoke the permission at any time in the iPhone Settings app, under Screen Time. Offimo stops pausing immediately. Grant it again from inside Offimo whenever you want to come back.

If iOS asks again

After an iOS update, a restore or a new phone, the permission may need to be granted again. New phone or iOS update covers that.
